The Black Shadow  845 hard wired (point to point) Single Ended amplifier comes with Shuguang 845’s as standard but can also be supplied with a choice of 845 tubes upon request. This amp will work with most speakers over of 83 – 4db efficiency.  The Black Shadow Mk2 delivers 25 watts of pure Class “A” power into 8 ohms The amp has both 4 and 8 ohm outputs.

Having a volume control on the front of both mono-blocks and mono inputs on the rear means that a pre-amplifier is not necessary with this unit if you only use one line level source, but we do recommend that a pre-amp is used. The Black Shadow is auto biased which means that it will accept almost any 845 tube (The amps are supplied with Shuguang 845’s . This amplifier is meticulously hand built and hard wired point to point by our artisans.

To provide the fastest transient response possible, solid-state rectification is used, and the design and its implementation ensures phase coherent harmonic structure throughout the frequency spectrum. The 845 output tubes used are well within their specified performance envelope to ensure low distortion and optimum sound quality, as well as extended tube life. .

Our output transformers are wound in-house to our exacting standards and many of the components are either made by us or specifically for us. We use Shuguang 845’s and NOS E182CC & NOS Russian 6H23N.  The Black Shadows are designed for difficult loads, loads of power and yet very musical.

Many of our high end products are offered with bespoke options, in fact many of our customers who order these products have a good idea what they want in their amplifiers in terms of final sound and final look. So with that in mind, we can pretty well tailor the high end amplifiers to suit your requirements. You can of course go with our recommendation based on your system.

We offer stock level Black Shadow 2 with  3 upgrade options (which are available on all of our amplifiers), that being Insignia, Excelsior and Signature Reference classes.

This is a great starting point and one that many people opt for as it is an “off the shelf” package. Often however when tailoring your amp for your musical tastes you may wish to change the stock upgrade component for something that you know works for your ears.
