DIVALDI GOLD AMP-05 is our flagship headphone amplifier combining an unusual and practical form with excellent sound and an extraordinary design. It is a class A amplifier with variable bias current for power transistors. It was made entirely according to our proprietary electronic design principles that have been developed over the years. It is also a natural evolution of our previous amplifier – the very well-received AMP-02 model.

The latest DIVALDI GOLD AMP-05, is an amplifier offering three headphone outputs: one unbalanced large jack (6.3mm), and two balanced Pentaconn (4.4mm) and XLR. At the same time, it also sports an unusually placed volume control knob – it is located at the top of the housing and is very convenient to use. Of course, its design refers to our larger devices. And not only in terms of the form, but also in terms of build quality.

We have also designed a special external, separate power supply for the AMP-05 It is also available in a special, improved version. It is characterized not only by a housing that refers to the form of the amplifier itself, but also – which is unique among headphone amplifiers – by the use of an R-Core toroidal transformer. The AMP-05 is a headphone amplifier that combines pure sound with a special, timeless form and excellent workmanship. It is also one of those devices of which we are especially proud. Because, most importantly, its sound combines the best features of tubes and transistors into one coherent whole.

What makes the DIVALDI GOLD AMP-05 stand out?

• The amplifier operates in class A with variable bias current for the power transistors. Compared to a more classic circuit with deep bias, this is a better overall solution because it ensures that the amplifier does not switch to the ordinary class B operation when certain current values required by the load (i.e., headphones) are exceeded. In other words, we have the same mature and saturated sound character at all times. And with larger dynamic jumps, there is no noticeable deterioration in aspects such as tone and resolution (which is often the case with many other designs).
• The amplifier also features additional proprietary circuit solutions implemented at three points that protect the power stage from “switching off” from bias (as well as protecting the entire voltage-current amplification circuit from the negative effects of changes in the operating points of active components). All this makes the AMP-05 a de facto amplifier that is technically more advanced than the vast majority of headphone amplifiers operating in the more “standard” class A.
• The amplifier's housing was designed and manufactured by us from high-quality aluminium that was machined with the utmost precision to create a great-looking device. The volume knob in the AMP-05 is also made of aluminium and is discreetly backlit. What's more, the use of an all-metal housing has other advantages besides visual ones. First of all, it provides magnetic shielding. In addition, thanks to precise assembly and the use of special feet, it also has an anti-vibration effect. All of those directly translate to a black background in music and sheer resolution.
• A separate external power supply is also used. The amplifier itself is internally configured as DUAL MONO with separate stabilized power supplies for each channel.
• As with our larger GOLD series devices, the AMP-05 also features electronic components, including transistors, which are selected and paired by hand. Even more, two assembly techniques have been used in this design: SMD (surface mount) and THT (through-hole) – because, as our listening tests have confirmed, this solution proved to be optimal from a sound perspective.
